I have tried to search this site for an answer but could not find one.

What causes the terts to form a cluster of male flowers at the growing end?

So far all of the secondaries are normal. I have noticed that as soon as a tert begins to emerge it turns into a cluster of male flowers. I have been cutting them all off anyway, but was curious if any one knows what causes this?

If your plant has used up all the nutrients or all the nutrients are going into a big pumpkin the vine growth will slow and it will make alot of males at the end.
So if all the energy is going to the secondary the tertiary wont have alot of juice so it makes males.

lack of nutrients....in my case is was nitrogen.
