Can I use 100% pure silicone to repair a split in my main vine.

I am sure others have tried this and would like to know if it works. It would keep the water out of the split and it would be flexible.

My linear split in my main is getting worse, and today I noticed that the split has widened and it looks pretty deep and it seems to be starting to split the other way forming almost a T shape. This cant be good.

Will the silicone help?

Pap was right. We have to be able to deal with a lot of disappointment.

The split is bigger, and seems deeper. And as I mentioned the split is now becoming a crack. It looks like this Main will be terminating it self at this point.

I will try everything I can to keep it from rotting because there is a very good female developing 12" before the split/crack.

I hope to get this flower pollinated before the split/crack brings the main down. I will then terminate the main at the damaged spot and test the "end of the line pumpkin", that has been mentioned many times on this forum. I read that another grower is doing the same thing but I cant remember who it was. maybe PJ.

Anyway I am keeping my fingers crossed that I can get that female to pollinate.

To late. The crack is now out of control. I will have to terminate the vine.

I only recommend silicone if you are a doctor growing in Beverly Hills:) - To be honest, be happy it is 24 feet down and not five, and just bury that end.
