Two weeks ago I had a pc of lumber that I was using as a walking board slip out of my hand and fall on my main vine. The vine developed a split running with the vine about 1 1/2 inch long.
I applied a paste that I made from Captan
The paste dried into what looks like a cast
Its been 2 weeks since the cast has been on there. Should I try to wash it off? Or should I leave it alone? The vine seems to doing fine past this spot. Still growing about 10 inches a day.
I am worried that the cast might, or already has, become soggy. the vine looks like it wants me to clean it off, let dry, and then reapply the captan. This time in just the powder form.
Please let me know what you guys think. I will post a pic. as soon as it appears on my diary.

I'm no expert, but I don't think I would wash it off. The main thing you need to do in my opinion is keep water out of the split. If water sits in it, it will rot. brush the loose stuff off and put some more on, and cover it with something to keep the rain off.
