I have a couple secondarys that are nearing the edge of the patch. One passed the edge but I turned it 90* to let it run along the side. Would it be better to cut and bury it rather than let it run? Now that Ive turned it Im thinking it may cause problems later when the other secondarys reach the edge of the patch. Its a little over 10 ft from stump to the edge of the patch. Are 10 ft secondarys enough to grow a slunger?

Some of it depends on the vine pattern you want to do. I like the secondaries that are closest to the pumpkin to run a little longer so I turn them like you do in order to accomplish that. My secondaries farther from the pumpkin are shorter which gives me the space for the longer ones to grow. There are lots of vine patters and different theories, but I know of some monster pumpkins that have been grown on these types of patterns.
