They need planted. They are OK unless it is below 40. Try to put a bucket or something over them at night.

Hi rybec,
I live in southern michigan so I think were fairly close to one another and I planted my 6 last thursday. They have been slow going but I think cause of the cool weather and all the overcast days. I've got small hoophouses over mine and hopefully they take off soon. I would plant asap and keep an eye on the weather day to day and cover them as needed.

Pumpkins are a warm-weather crop, the specific conditions necessary for growing pumpkins require that soil temperatures three inches (7.62 centimeters) deep are at least 60 degrees Fahrenheit (15.5 degrees Celsius) and soil that holds water well. or because of cold temperatures (in this case, below 65 degrees (18.3 degrees Celsius) wet condition.
At least that's what one source states.

Here is a link that could help you a month or so from now.

You need to have the first true leaf on each plant before you plant them out. That leaf will usually give you the direction that the vine will travel, which is opposite the direction of that first leaf. If you have the first true leaf, you should be good to go..Good Luck!!!

rybec judy is right you first need indication of direction and secondly as far as temps, control them with a hoop otherwise you are playing lottery with weather.
