first year out at big 1 have the property imm a avid gardener would appreciate any tips or help i can get.Want to start a new plot should i spray the grass with round up

yes you could spray the area with round up. be sure the air temp is warm enough to make the product effective, i believe its minimum 65 degrees.
i would not roto-till the sod in the ground until such time as the grass is dead and dried up.which in warm weather should ne a couple weeks at least.
