I was looking at the southern ohio giant pumpkin growers website , under the link " growing a giant pumpkin " and I read , " tilling should be done 3 to 4 feet down for best results ".
My question is , does any one actually till that deep. If you do, how do you do it.
How deep does everyone till.

Not a tiller at all - it's a chisel plow or subsoiler depending where you are.

most people just use a regular tiller on the whole patch and befor you set your plant out use a shovel to go down 3ft only at the planting area

I plow 8-10 inches deep with the tractor, then the rototiller only gets about 4-6 inches deep.

You could till 3 to 4 feet with a PC60! Sure would turn the soil over faster and help moving the big rocks you find!
