The nub (?) in the blossom has turned to mush. ;-( I cleaned out all the junk with bleach and water and put a good amount of Daconil in. Anything else I can do? Does not look like it has gone into the pumpkin but the whole nub is gone! Any advice? What are the odds of this pumpkin making it or is it a goner? Thanks

Keep it dry. There is no hard & fast set of odds. Consider setting a fan blowing 24/7 directly on the spot if the oouter "shell" is involved.

Went out this afternoon to put a fan on "Winslow" and the entire ring (that used to go around the nub) was soft. So, I scraped this off, cleaned with 10% bleach/water and painted on some Fung Oil (Ran out of Daconil). The fan is now on it. Without a blossom will a pumpkin grow? Or does this just weaken the pumpkin. Guess time will tell. Just wondering if anyone has had any success with this problem. Thanks

Some people cut that nub off I think. So it should not be that bad.

had one last year rot on me flush to the pumpkin and i cut off the nub and i took a toothe brush and lightly scraped away all remaining goo and brown flesh to a clean non infected flat surface. then i sprayed a 10% bleach formula and let it dry with the sun and a fan on in. then i lightly pressed dry captan into the slight indentation that was actually going into the pumpkin about a quarter inch. then left a fan on it for a week and it made it through the season. got to keep it dry from there on out with a tarp over the pumpkin.

Took a look at Winslow this am. Doesn't look any worse than last night. Shazzy, I have a tarp for a sunshade but should I cover the entire pumpkin with a tarp? Would that not heat it up too much? Are there pics from last year in your Diary? Thanks
