Got me 2 of these beauties pollinated and then the rain set in. Over 7 inches in 7 days with no sunshine, a truely odd occurance in AL in July/Aug. One of my fruit just flat out aborted and I noticed that Most of the small females on both plants did the same. My neighbor lost 2 to stem rot during the same time. Can the rain really cause this much dmg? I have another that split at the stem but with Daconil and some TLC it is moving on now at 24" on day 8.

Yes sir, heavy rain of that amount can and usually does wreak havoc in your patch in one form or another.

2 days after i posted, the stem split in half and the pumpkin split all over. It was a really nicelooking wagon wheel. This year's agenda has been genetics, so even if I get one on late as long as it matures I will be happy. Pollinted 4 more after all the aborts were culled. Now it's neer 100 every day with 80% humidity. Yay for weather in AL. Enjoying every minute though :)
