I have been using sevin for the aphids. Then I got some neem oil and dosed them well with that. The ants are the real problem. Can I use malathion or will it hurt my plants?

Ron, I've used malathion for aphids and it seems to work fine. Pretty harsh stuff so make sure you mix it according to the label....do not mix it too strong.

Since ants don't bother pumpkins as much as they bother growers, why spray for ants at all?

ants and aphids go hand and hand as they have a symbiotic relationship, and protect and carry newly hatched aphids to new plants to feed.

I would get rid of the ants, I have to agree with Glenn.

The aphids do have to go. When they're gone the ants will be too.

Found a great ant control that is completely organic and works phenomenal. Cream of Wheat! put small piles of it around the ant mound and a barrier of it around your pumpkin. Ants love it and when they eat it they die in 24 hours from it swelling in their stomach. It is very cheap and works very well.
