Words cannot fully express the condition to where we can properly advise.
A few points:
Nutrient problem - old leaves turning yellowish. Mites - older leaves "dusty & stippled". Shake over white paper. Disease - take clear digital picture & post to gallery or diary.
The big O condition could be Nitrogen, mites or disease. POST CLEAR PICTURES then put the link here. Even a camera phone is better then nothing.

This???
http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=113995
Is this plant growing on the lawn? None of the nodes look like they're buried. At the risk of offending; this doesn't look like a nutrient deficiency but rather simple neglect. Plants grown between the shrubs in a front lawn have a very hard time reaching their potential.

Was a soil test ever done? Ammendments? Fungicide program?

You're not a moron Pete. We're just all getting testy with this weather I think. CT is enjoying about 3X the amount of rain we need.
It's good to see New Jersey on here. It's been years since I've talked to Gancarz. Andrew Wetzel has the NJ record at 919 lbs.
Get your patch squared away this fall & 2010 could be your year.

Pete,
If you need seeds from the 919 next year just let me know. It is always a good idea to grow seeds that are already acclimated to your area ( I live in Millville so I'm not that far away). Regards, Andrew
