I am not a very good grower, though I have been growing now for 8 seasons. I learned something this year that I wish I had known 8 years ago.
Enjoy every season you have a chance to grow, regardless of the results.
Why? This year I have had to have 2 operations, May 11th and June 29th, not exactly a good time for an AG grower. Through the help of my soulmate and best friend Martina we have 6 healthy plants and at least something set on each one of them.
We are not going to set a new PB this year, but we are enjoying every minute of this year more then any before. The old story of you don't know what you got till it's gone.
So, enjoy every year, find something positive from everyday in the patch, or at least learn something to take with you into the next year. I am doing exactly that this year.
Grow em big, go heavy, have fun!

The only time my wife comes out to the patch is to grab me by the ear and drag me inside. Last year she helped out a little. This year....not so lucky.
Owen! You got a good woman there!

owen.. Thanks for this post. When you wrote it, I was just beginning to complain to myself that I don't seem to be better than previous years, etc... I agree that every day is a new blessing. I believe this blessing comes from the Good Lord above. That changed my mind. Last year, my pumpkin rotted at the end of the season. I lifted it and the bottom fell out! This year, I'm ahead of all my previous years. The pumpkin is growing, my family is together and we lean of God for everything. So, I wish you and all the growers many blessings! Greg
