Are you supposed to shade the fruit at all times? Mine is in between a cantaloupe and a Basketball right now. Are they supposed to be yellowish instead of green this early??

All of mine have been yellow the first 20+ days. I think that's normal. The only ones I've had that are green are on my non-giant pumpkins (Triple Treat variety).

On and on the shading I would say yes. I'm sure someone who knows a lot more than me will chime in but from what I've read you should start shading them before pollination if it's hot. And once pollination has happened a lot of growers put a cheap white resin/plastic lawn chair over the top as a shade. Other growers go straight to tarp.

thanks so much! Just out of curiosity...when should I start to see noticable growth spurts? after a few weeks perhaps??
