I have a pumpkin that has a flatline. People keep telling me to grow on the sidevine. If I end up doing that, how do you do it, cut off the main where the side vine starts, and let it grow on the side vine?

Similar question.... I have a huge female ready to bud tomorrow on a side vine... I will pollinate it, but what do the experts on this board suggest to do with it in the long run?
