I find a couple teaspoons of vegetable oil and a little dishsoap juice from a lemmon with water in a spray bottle works good. I have also heard if you drape banana peels on the plant they will leave, never tried that though.

Get some Bayer Tree & Shrub or Merit(active ingredient Imidicloprid). You can mix in a little Stylet Oil or summer oil for a quicker kill. Home Depot has Bayer Tree & Shrub for $14.48 right now. I believe it is $19.95 at Lowe's or Wal Mart. Contact insecticides do not work well on aphids since they suck out sap from the leaf.

Thanks for all the replies.........I tried the banana peels , the contact pesticides & soapy water ( but left out the veggy oil ) with only minimal luck..........I even tried the " finger-thumb" method........so , I guess I'll get the Bayer Tree & Shrub or Merit & give that a try.
Thanks again.

An insecticidal soap containing 'potassium salts of fatty acids', and neem oil have both worked well for me in controlling aphids. Haven't seen a single aphid since May.

Beware of Neem near any pond or stream, it will kill off all the fish!

I use a combo of merit and talstar to kill SVB and it handles almost any and every other bug and grub.... Bayer Tree and Shrub is a quick and easy way to get something that will kill the aphids.

Tremor can tell you the name of the spreader sticker that works good on aphids, right now I can not remember.

I am using an Ortho (same thing as the Bayer) product this year with a hose hookup right on the bottle and have had almost no bug problems this year.
