i have been reading that some gardeners use colored mulches to increase yields such as red for tomatoes, olive for squash, and silver for peppers.pumpkin growers dont neccasarily use mulch but we do build wind fences, shade our plants themselves, and almost always shade the actual fruit. i guess im wondering do any growers build these items with a certain color reflection in mind so as to give their plant more of a certain spectrum of light that pumpkins find useful???

they say blue is good for cucubits (pumpkins, squash, cukes) but with the weather I get any plastic ground cover would cook the roots without mulching overtop of it.

They use red for tomatoes to make them ripen faster. We do not want the pumpkin to ripen faster.
