Hey, I finally got the pumkins in the ground (a few days too long in the pots but not bad). Anyways what fertilizer do I need to put down, I supose root growth is key right now. I don't feel like getting fancy things just the regular stuff like 13-13-13. Also, should my soaker hose do fine for watering (and how often)? Or is there something better and cheap. Thanks

Nitrogen is key right now, although if your soil has enough of it naturally, you won't need to add any.Well rotted cow manure is one of the best things to have in your patch. I've also been watering in twice per week a solution of Neptune's fish and seaweed liquid mixed with water around the base of the plants. A shot of miracle grow liquid once per week is good too. Did you get a soil test?

If the seedling was just put in the ground I would reccommend to stay away from a high nitrogen fertilizer or the roots may be burned up. Neptune's Harvest would be the way to go, applied in a soil drench around the plant each week for the next 2 weeks I'd say. Keep the ground moist but not soaked in a 3 foot radius around the plant for now, by whatever means. When the plants are small it's easy enough to water by hand once a day.
