Hi. We wanted to save the seeds from our pumpkins this year and really have no idea of how is best method to do this. Is there a preferred method. Also is there an area in the site that tells how. Thanks for any advice on this. Steve

estaban,wash seeds off luke warm water not hot.. towel dry , lay in single rows on a screen turn seeds over every day for a couple of weeks and that should do it. inside is the best.maybe under a ceiling fan..

Just wash them off like Bill said. I let them dry by themselves on a window screen for a month then they're ready to store or send out. Try not to let them touch each other to prevent mold.

i was going to ask when is the best time to pull the seeds from the pumpkin. i got a book from a freind for my birthday called saving seeds. it says that you are supposed to let the fruit rot before you pull the seeds. my 388 lb. pumpkin is still as big as it was at wheigh off i've been waiting for it to cave in. i'm puzzled because a lot of seeds in the auctions are from this year.

They will start growing inside that pumpkin if you don't get em out.

when we cut ours open some of the seeds were starting to sprout inside the pumpkin. this is info for the oregon grower. not a lot had started but next year we are cutting them out right after contest. we ended up drying them on paper paper until the outside was dry and then on paper plates. they seem to be doing well and no mold yet too. thank you again. Steve
