It's always good to put a card in there with all your info.
Address, phone number, email, and of corse name. And write good so they can read it then sit back and reap the rewards. Thanks Chris

Dick's club is SNGPG. New England Giant Pumpkin Growers is located in Massachusetts, John Doucet is president. Both are different.

Whoever you decide to join, write legibly... deciphering handwriting is becoming a lost art! :) SC gave info for the SNGPG and I think Chief asked about the NEGPGA ... both are great clubs.

if its information you seek ? go south chief. i dont think its bragging if you can back it up.
the sngpg is known for its informational news letters and
world record giant pumpkin growers. we have been fortunate in both regards.
the negpga,ctgp@sg,vgpga,nhgpg,mgpga,sngpg are all good clubs with good people running them. you cant go wrong anywhere. it depends on what your looking for.

Lonnie, some you do... some are a little different.

SNGPG gets donations and such for a really outstanding seedpack... BUT. It does cost. The $ raised goes back to club as fundraiser and you're guaranteed the seeds are worth more at auction than you paid.

There is a waiting list usually from previous year of those that wanted to buy but didn't get pulled in the lotto. Then they pull from those that want to buy it, a lottery, because usually there aren't enough promo packs to go around.

I'm told GVGO does a pack to their members too... it depends on the club what they do and how they do it.

A lot of growers will share seed for asking very nicely and sending a SASB or equivalent (I noted you're across the border in that 'whole nother country' Canada :) )

Joining club usually means some great newsletters and supporting growing!

Bourney, I think almost all club memberships get you a seed pkg...some (obviously) better than others. SNGPG seed pkg, is an extra investment, if you get drawn to recieve one!!! I was one of the lucky ones last year...and if I would have auctioned my SNGPG seed pkg, at a private auction...it would have been the best investment I ever made. Except for those 1000 shares of Apple I bought in 1968!!! LOL The best part of being part of any club, is the personal contact...newletters, etc...that you can get from a growers GROUP...especially one in your own area!!! Hope this helps...Peace, Wayne

Could someone explain this to me? How does putting a price on a seed pack, and making it a lottery, advantage all the members? Am I misunderstanding something?

Phil, the SNGPG uses the seedpack/lottery to raise funds for things like weighoff prizes. IF there are more that want the seedpack then they have packs, they do the lottery; and the last few years they have had more demand than supply of seed.

Some other groups, GIVE packs to their new members only; some groups have enough to share to all their members. It varies, depending on the club.

I'm told the packs will be ready about Dec 7th, and I don't know yet if I can have my name in for the lottery or not (whether or not I could afford the pack if I'm drawn). Aaaugh......

Ahh I see, you only pay if your name is drawn?

IM HOPING THIS YEAR WE WONT NEED TO ELIMINATE ANYONE. I PUT TOGETHER ENOUGH LOTS ( APPROXIMATELY 35 SEEDS IN EACH ) IN LOT A and 1A TO AVOID ANYONE BEING TURNED DOWN.
SEVERAL OF THE SAME HEAVY HITTER SEEDS IN EACH LOT.

MEMBERS TO BE NOTIFIED VIA EMAIL HOPEFULLY BY NEXT WEEK. SNAIL MAIL VIA NEWSLETTER BEFORE CHRISTMAS
