Hi, the leaves on the first few feet of a couple vines are turning yellow lately and eventually turning dark brown,wilting and dying. It seems to be the first two feet or so on two of my vines. Is this a normal wilting distance from the stump?

older leaves do slowly dry out and die off. but it could also be other things accelerating the die off... spider mites, etc.
can you post a picture? or get an expericed local grow to look at your plant?

If it's just the first few closest to the base it is normal for this time of year. Just trim them off.
