THIS IS THE TIME OF THE SEASON WE ALL WAIT FOR. PRUNING AND VINE BURING ARE ALMOST (IF NOT ALREADY) COMPLETED.
THE FRUIT IS LOCKED AND LOADED INTO POSITION FOR A STRESS FREE RIDE INTO OCTOBER.
A FEW FUNGICIDE SPRAYS, A WEEKLY SPRAY OR TWO OF KELP,FISH,PLUS ANY MAJOR OR MINOR NUTRIENTS YOUR TISSUE TEST INDICATED WERE NEEDED, AND YOUR IN THE ROCKIN CHAIR.
WE IN THE EASTERN STATES ARE GETTING SUFFICIENT RAIN SO WE DONT REALLY NEED TO WORRY ABOUT THE DROUGHT ANY LONGER.LIFE IS GOOD.( ID STILL PUT A TENT OVER MY BEST FRUIT STARTING NEXT WEEK JUST IN CASE OF HAIL)
ONCE A WEEK WE MEASURE AND AS WE EXIT THE PATCH. WE SING "ZIPPIDY DO DA" OR " GOOD BYE YELLOW BRICK ROAD" DEPENDING ON THE MEASUREMENTS.
WE CAN PHONE AROUND THE AREA AND SEE WHO GOT ANYTHING BIGGER THAN US. JIM KUHN OF NEW HAMPSHIRE FAME HAS MADE THIS AN ART FORM.I SWEAR HE HAS A CHECK LIST IN HIS LAP WHILE HES CHECKING US OUT.
YOUR FRIENDS "DROP IN " CAUSE THEY WERE IN THE AREA (LOL) AND DEPENDING ON WHAT YOU HAVE THEY MAY NEVER BE HEARD FROM AGAIN UNTIL THE DAY OF THE WEIGH-OFF.
ALL IN ALL? THIS IS WHAT WE GROW FOR. THIS IS WHAT WE ARE ALL ABOUT. PRIDE, HAVING FUN WITH OUR FRIENDS, PLAYING A GUESSING GAME WITH OUR BUDDIES (THE ONES THAT ALWAYS GIVE YOU MEASUREMENTS THAT ARE A WEEK TO TEN DAYS OLD - LOL )
HAVE FUN WITH IT . ITS A LONG WINTER

I came out of the patch the other day whistling, cant remember the turn, but I know it was a happy one, even with my foaming stump and downy mildew, it was still a good day. Thanks Pap.

I'm having fun, so are my garden neighbors. They tell me they can't believe how big its getting, someone also told me when ever they go to there garden they make a point to go see how the big pumpkins are doing.

So much fun this time of year, when it needs two people to succesfully do a tape measurement, LOL! All good fun. I'm hoping the two I have will stay together. All season long the tune has been "There Aint No Bugs On ME." However, I did find some vine borers this year. Got them though and things are steadily growing.

Heavy downpours yesterday, we had to cover the pumpkins with plastic to make sure they were protected in case we got any hail. I'm thinking those tarps ought to go up in short order. How do you tarp a wagon wheel Pap? LOL
