Hi. It seems like most of my gains on my pumpkins are made at night. Is this normal. Also has anyone tried raising big pumpkins hydroponically before. The local Hydroponic shop said they would help me try one next year with root system in a fully contained large hydroponic system. obviously the vines would be on the ground but has anyone done this before. i am sure they must have but i notice no one seems to do this so i am also guessing there are some drawbacks. thanks. steve

Most of our growth is at night, we do have some during the day though, maybe an inch or two circ.

there would be a huge benefit growing hydroponicly(if)you have the space and facility to do it properly.
im guessing here but id think disease would be a thing of the past.
also i suspect we could do away with or control with injections to eliminate foaming stumps, stump rot, vine splits, blossom splits, stem splits, etc. (if)and only (if) people with this type of growing experience get involved

Hi. Thank you for your replies. I was worried I was doing something wrong because there was no growth in day. Also these guys are real experts in hydroponics so we will try a plant or two next year this way. They are actually excited as hell about the challenge of it hahaha. steve

Here's an attempt back in 2004 that was never seen through.
