Subject: slit in pumpkin

i found a slit in my pumpkin near the blossom end.any chance of saving it.i filled it with captan and have a fan on it.thanks..

All you can do is try and see. If it dries out and isn't down to the cavity, you might be able to make a latex caulk "bandage" over the split. My success in saving splits like that has been 1 in 5 or 6.

I tried using silicone to patch a split & it did not stretch with the fruit , but when it came off , I found that it had sealed in moisture & I had a BIG patch of black MOLD..........needless to say , that fruit ( a big one ) was ruined.........I used latex caulk on another one & it's doing real well.........all my splits were at the blossom end & started the day after pollination.......still haven't found anybody to state WHY that happens.............good luck!!
