Secondary vines self terminating?
Anyone know what causes this? The growth ends of the secondarys are justing stunting, then stopping.
I do have one fruit set on the plant, set 18 days ago, still growing steady. The main is still growing steady, and another 4-5ft and it will get terminated on purpose.
My theories are these:
1. not enough water 2. too much water (less likely as it has been very dry here) 3. The plant is trying to put all energy into the fruit
Good chance there is something I am missing.
No wilting of leaves, I have cleared off the earlier leaves from the stump, Daconil has been used (and worked well) to kill a tiny bit of Rot that started at the blossom end (I did not take off the flower at day 2 or 3 like I should have), but that should not have effected my secondaries.
I have used OrthoMax for pesticide, and so far no Signs of SVB on my vine either.

I agree with Trailor, the energy is going to pumpkin, it's normal.

Cool. Thanks, both.
Then that is not a concern.
It can have it.
I want to be growing fruit, not salad anyway.
