Please explain "slowly"........how big & how old are they??? In my part of OH , we've had excessive rain. I read somewhere that pumpkins need the equivelant of 1" of rain per week..........then I read somewhere on this forum they need 80 - 100 gallons per day. Maybe some "oldtimer" might jump in & give you good info. I'm new at this too.

Alot depends on the heat and your soil type, I can safely add that. 2nd year grower.

the pumpkin is about 12 days old, it is the size of a football. it still has the flower attached. I have removed all other pumpkins off the main and secondaries.

A regulation football is 720–730 mm (28.3–28.7 in) That's not too bad at 12. The flowers lobes will be there all season. You can safely remove the flower. Terry

grab a handfull of soil an inch below the surface. squeeze the dirt into a ball and release your grip. if the ball stays together your soil is wet enough. if it colapses you need water.
we usuall put 125 gallons of water on a 700 to 750 square ft plant when we water. we dont get the main excessively wet but concentrate on watering under the leaf canopy and especially the outer plant edges where it dries out quicker.
spraying over top seems to waste a lot of water so this time of year we water by hand under the canopy and put the water where it is needed most. hope this helps
