Hello again from Colorado,

has anybody ever posted an approximate chart of the diameter of giant pumpkins as they grow? Our is at day 6 today and the size of a large apple. I have no experience to know if it is too small, medium, big... It would be great to have something to compare it to.

Many pumpkins grow at different rates due to:

1. genetics
2. sun
3. watering
4. fertilizing
5. pest/disease pressure
6. temperature
7. surface area of plant
8. amount of plant that is rooted at the nodes

So it is very hard to say on a day to day basis where you should be. That being said, there are benchmarks in place to tell you where you need to be to make 1200 lbs. These benchmarks can be viewed at:

Garden State Pumpkins

There are charts to compare against. most are for ten days, twenty days, etc...but the one I have dates back to 2005 was an Adobe PDF file that has weight vs circumference measurements by inches....look for Ailts-Landry benchmarks...I know its old but it gives ya an idea as the pimpkin grows.
