I have an early side vine that is growing in parallel to the main. Its now got quite long and significnat size. Should I prune this as there is no way I can train it out sideways or just leave it? Its almost like a second main and my pumpkin is on the true main. Will it support this fruit or hinder?

I find it hard to believe you can not train it to go perpendicular to the main, but if it is impossible to train with sticks or guiders, then I would cut it as the leaves will become quite a cluster and then compete to get to the highest spot, creating a problem with too tall leaf stalks.

yes what rock said. I dont think i have ever had a side that wasnt trainable. if it really isnt then cut it off.

What you meant to say was you had a secondary that you didn't train for a couple weeks and now it has grown parallel to your main...... i had this happen and I just terminated it. LOL.
