Call me crazy, but I have read that you should clip off any vines growing off of your secondaries! I have not seen any and all of my plants are out to between 10 and 12 feet with a very nice christmas tree shape going. Is not having vines branch off of your secondaries a bad sign or am I lucky? I am behind on posting to my diary, hopefully I will be able to get some pics up in the next day or so. I also had a garden tool fall over on one of my secondaries earlier today. It snapped the vine about 6 inches from the end. I sprayed with a fungicide. Should I just cut it off and bury the end?

If you look carefully at the nodes you will likely see samll tertiary bines starting to grow out around the leaf axial. This varies a great deal between plants. I try to "rub" them out with my thumb when they are quite small, this will save you a lot of work later.
As far as your damaged vine, yup you are doing everything right. Cut and burry if really damaged.
