I am a new guy and I have (7) plants growing the (2) that I planted first are longer than the rest but the leafs are no where near as big as the other guys, does this just have to do with genetics or did they maybe get stunted some how with the cool spring, all the plants are in the same soil and get the same treatment, the only difference is the seeds and the date they were planted, any comments are welcome. Here is a link to my diary new pictures should be up some time today. http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryView.asp?season=2008&grower=45595&action=L

From looking at your diary the generic seeds were started almost 4 weeks earlier than your named crosses. The leaf size is genetic. In about 2 weeks your named cross plants will blow by the others.

Thanks Ron, thats what I was thinking but I wasnt sure, hopefully the little guy's can still grow a giant, the plants are all very healthy, about my only problem has been weed's, which I am trying to take care of as I go, next year I will know better to try to get most of them taken care of when they first start coming up. Thanks again
