is it okay to save seeds from pumpkins that have begun to rot?I'm afraid these seeds could have picked something up like a fungus.

How much rot are we talking? I'm no expert but if she is down bad I'd have second thoughts. If the seeds still look and feel solid and have not started sprouting you could wash them off really good with a weak bleach/water solution.

Ditto on what Mark said. Think about how a pumpkin would disperse its seeds in nature.... by rotting away, right?
