Hi all,
Just wondering how long/well the large AG’s, 1,000 pound+ last when off of a vine, if stored properly?
From what I gather they store best with low humidity, at about 60 F?

Since no one has replied to you yet I thought I would tell you that I have had other non-massive maximas last over a year. 'lumina', 'big max' and 'one too many' are all maximas that I have had last over a year easily. The pumpkins that keep the longest for me are ones that look healthy (nice color and shape) and have no nicks or marks on them. I always wash my pumpkins with soap and water when I get them. Then after they sit for awhile they get dusty so I wash them again, maybe every 3 months. I haven't found any particular way to store them works better than another. Sometimes I keep them in the basement, other times they just sit in my room all year (obviously not feasible for you) with no problems. I suspect similar things should be true of the 'atlantic gaints'. However, I do feel that most of the large pumpkins would probably have marks or indentations on the bottom that would shorten their lifespan because of sitting on a pallet or in the back of a truck.

Thanks for the Reply.
I had no idea they could last that long.
I was looking at pictures of some of these giants, thinking; "is that thing going to start rotting soon"?
Based off o what you say they must easily last a few months if not carved or pied.
It does look like some growers take great care in padding and protecting their fruits at the weigh-offs.
