i'm new to growning pumpkins, but i'm trying to get a head start on my patch. i actually grow prize winning sunflowers. i know what they need. but not pumpkins. i had an area tilled up already, just added roughly 9 yards of compost manure the other day. now what? should i add other things, or wait untill spring?

First order of business is to have a soil test done. The results of that will tell you what to add and when. Soil test is a MUST!

Vunak,
Welcome to the madness. Ditto the soil test. I used Agri-Energy Resources in Princeton, IL. http://agrienergy.net/index.htm
Good Luck,

is it wise to test now, he just put in 9 yards of compost, or should he wait till it "settles" in a bit?
