I would like to grow some big pumkins, but they should look like field pumkins, you know, start out green turn orange, not pink or salmon. Should look like a pumkin not a big blob. Biger than you usual jack-o-lantern, but not giant. Maybe about 100bls max. Any sugestions on variaty etc. Thanks Frank

Definetly Prize winners or Big Maxs. You could also just plant them both and let them cross. But Ive grown Prize winners that averaged 200 pounds plus as Big Maxs tend to stay a little smaller. Good color in both types of pumpkins.

He wants Hard Stem Pumpkins. Try some Jumping Jack, Howden Biggie, I grew some Phat Jack Seeds sent to me that gave me some awesome 80 lb hard stem pumpkins.

This is my 2nd tear growing Big Maxs, 1st year with AGs.
Last year I had 4-6 plants w/no vine management & they grew w/o any protection and little care,(I hadn't found this site at the time.)
All my Maxs were kinda round and pretty. Biggest 117#

I currently still have growing 1X Kearns117# '06, with 7 pumpkins on it. A few I crossed w/AG Beauchemin 802 dmg.
The plant took off like crazy set my first fruit and didn't have any rot problems like I did on the AGs.
I think all 7 will go over 100# and aren't too blobish.
I've even got 1 fruit just set 22+' out on the tip of a secondary about basketball size.
Next year I'll probably go with 2 Maxs and 3-4 AGs.
The Maxs give me alot to give away.
Pics in my diary.
Good Luck
Kevin
