scbbbc, try search function on main board, might take several tries...hoop house, cold frame, use different combos to try and find it, but the info is here, I have built a couple out of pvc only...but others have used rebar stakes with pvc curved over the top...lots of diff way to do it, the only limitation is yer imagination!!! LOL Peace, Wayne

I have'nt made one yet, but, it does'nt have to be fancy. I have seen some made with 2x4's and plastic, just as long as it works. (I plan on making one next year)

I used 1" pvc, I just followed the one on Joel Holland's video and it worked great.

FYI, Joel built that one on his video after Jack demonstrated how we build ours.

Dang, hit submit before I was done. Anyway, Joel's are a little different than ours. If memory serves from the video he does his doors differently. Its good that we can all learn from each other whether from videos, emails, diaries, whatever way we can all work together for the good of the hobby/sport. We have used PVC in the past from 1/2 inch to 1 inch depending on what we have available or the need. We would put rebar into the ground at an angle then slide the PVC over the rebar and cover with plastic. We put a piece of pipe across top for ridgebeam of course and either rip tied it or duct taped it to the hoops. Now we have 96 foot greenhouses instead of individual hoop houses. We will use a version of a hoop house covered with a tarp over a pumpkin if treating a wound or split with a fan.

I used 3- 2x4, 5- 8' 3/4PVC pipe cut to size, 3/4 pvc clips, nails, 4 mil plastic and a staple gun. Looks like the Maine one but has a frame on the bottom. Portable but you have to get it off before the plant outgrows it. You can use it for 2 plants if they grow in opposite directions.

I used pvc hoop houses this year but, if you have high winds I suggest making them out of wood, in a triangular style. Maybe hinge the tops and fold up when done. The wood houses seem to with stand alot more wind then pvc, plus you dont need all those binder clips. My wood houses dont look as professional as pvc but after the first big wind storm the only house left was the wooden A-frames, plus they are alot cheaper and easier to build, transport and put away, the weight of the wood alone holds them down in wind. Just my 2 cents. Happy growing
