I have used the insecticide Sevin, Triazicide, Safer brand Insect Killer, higher water pressure with a hose, Bayer systemic tree and very harsh dirty words. So far, only the dirty words seem to make any difference and that is only in the way I feel. At this point, I' try anything. they just won't go away. have tried on a 5 day rotation to kill off any egg hatches, but this one plant will not get better.
Any help would be apreciated. Puter

Tom's suggestion is a summer spray oil which will smoke the ones present & kill eggs but has no residual. Pap's suggestion of Merit will get you through most of a season with one application
sooooooooooooo
Use both & you're golden.

Ok, I found this: MERIT. ®. 75 WSP Insecticide. If this is the stuff pap is talking about, I could not afford it. the price I found was 189.00 for one packet and we dont have that kind of money! Puter

Puter,
By "packet" are you referring to the 4x1.6 oz envelope? If so I sell the patented version for $115 all day. Don't shop retail. If there isn't an agri-co-op near you then wait until winter. It's too late to start using Merit now anyway.
I was selling the 2oz jars of Merit 75WP for $40 each for a limited time back in March. I'll do something like that again next year if folks want.
I WON'T take individual orders in the growing season. Rather I batch the orders & make one repackaging run & shipment.
Folks might expect BIGGER discounts on some items this year. The patent on Imidacloprid isup. We switched almost 75% of our sales over to generic (off-patent) labels this year. Bayer is pissed. LOL
Bayer Tree & Shrub is the same thing however due to the low strength, the use rate & cost are both MUCH higher.

Tremor, Wasn't sure what merit was so i did a search for water soluble meit on google.com. It was one of the first listings that came up: http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/merit-75-wsp-p-306.html This is the link. Not sure of the size, but it did say that it is used once a year and that is it, your done. Still seems expensive for a first time grower to invest that much in an insecticide. (actually, the wife said no) But thinking of all the other insecticides and costs over the growing season I guess it could be reasonable for the more experienced growers to have this one time expense. I will look into Toms idea and see if it is more affordable.

Yes, that bag contains four 1.6 oz packs or 6.4 oz. It would treat 1 acre once over at the rate we're after. This would last 60-90 days.
Like I said; this material is now off-patent so even though DIY Pest Control is a little high in price, Merit will be MUCH cheaper next year.
The 2 oz jar makes more sense for us anyway.

I know it is expensive, but when I look at the damage to my patch this year, it will be worth it. We all work so hard the whole year to try to get a 1000 pound pumpkin. Genetics, seeds, water, fertz, reading every thing we can, all the sweat in the patch and then to have some damn bug eat away at your dreams and cause disaster, the cost of merit is well worth it. Heck, if you added up how much money I spent on beer to drink in the patch this year, it would probably be more that what I will spend on Merit next year! I'll be keeping my eyes open for Tremor's specials come next March!!

You guys must have tough aphids. We are able to get rid of them with insecticidal soap. Very inexpensive.

Soap is a good solution so long as recurring generations leave you alone.
