What an idiot I can be. Thought I would look at some of the links from this site (never needed to leave it, just pokin around for growers groups to possibly join for next year) and found the sogpg site and looked at their estimator. I've been doing the measurements wrong for ott. Been going from blossom end to stem end. Found out the tape is supposed to go to the ground on both sides for two directions. Our pumpkins are not very big at all, but it makes me feel better. I wondered why I could not pick up a pumpkin to move it away from the vine when it was only supposed to weigh 63 lbs. What a moron. The chart that I used is in the Pumpkins III book. Just didn't read the instructions that well.

I did the same thing with a nearby grower a couple weeks ago, fastest growing pkn ever!!!! It went from 275 to 425 in a couple of minutes, when I showed him to put the tape all the way to the ground when measuring s/s and e/e measurements!!!!!!!! You are not alone, Puter!!! Lots of folks mis-measure!!! Peace, Wayne
PS...He was measuring s/s and e/e only down to the circ line.
