The eggs are small & brown laid on leaf stalks & vines.

Yep I know all to well about svb eggs. Their also usually scattered at the base of leaves and sometimes on flowers. Squash bugs lay a bunch in clumps as svbs dont. Their very tricky about their placement. If you see some which is strange this late in the season take them off your plants and dont drop them. Kill them..destroy them.burn them..blow them up..do what ever it takes. I put a couple in a jar this year with a stem and they hatch in about seven to ten days and begin to feed right away for about 4 weeks then leave to go in the soil until next year.
