The largest amount of seeds I've ever collected was 850 from a 280 pounder. The least was fewer than 50.

Seeds will be the same size regardless of pumpkin weight but seeds from different genetic lines can differ in color & size.

Can I keep growing plants from the pumpkin's seeds from our 2007 Dills packet of seeds(3 plants growing this year) and get them to get bigger every year, or do we need to introduce a better genetic line and cross them to get larger pumpkins. Our pumpkins now at for weeks are the size of beach balls and still kinda growing little bits every day. This is alot of fun and I was going too do it just this year. It appears that this is now an every year project and I am going to try this next year to grow one of our own seeds as well!!!!

Puter, it took decades to get to where we are now. It would be much easier to get some good seeds from growers here.

Puter, Brad is right. Get free seeds from people in here. It is totally different from the store boughten seeds.

Yes, come fall/November request seeds. You then send a bubble envelope in a bubble envelope with a thank you note. (at least thats the way I've done it, I think that's what they mean)I'm a begginer also.

Thanks all for the replies. We are in this for the long run, just not the competitive one. (Yet) I will do as you suggest. Just thought it would be fun to see if we could get a big one from what we had started with. Guess genetics do have a lot to do with the size. But this is still a blast!!
