As the nights get cooler, does the pumpkin grow faster or does it slow its growth? As it stands, if it stays the same (3 to 4 inches per day) until mid sept, I will have a pumpkin big enough to be a boat. If it slows, I won't.

It will slow down.

In our climate we have had up to 10 lb daily gains in October. There is still plenty of growing to do in September on a healthy plant with later pollinated pumpkins. That is my only hope this year being at least 3 weeks behind schedule.

Hope for warm weather but plan for cold. Warm is MUCH better for the pumpers.
