My small pumpkin 24" around got a nick on it. Is there anything I should do to help my baby. ha ha....The nick is from my husbands fingernail so its small 1/2" long & just slightly into the flesh.. Should I do anything other than pray. THANKS.....

Washing it with a 5% bleach solution is a good idea. Then keep it dry & it should callous over.

Spread some daconil on the mark and it will be fine.

I wouldn't do anything for it, it will heal over fine and might look ugly once it heals, but it's so small that it won't be a problem.

Now I'm getting a little brown around the edge of the nick..
Is this normal? Part of the healing process?.. I would hate for this to be the last straw in our 24 yr marriage..just kidding.. Thanks for your help everyone!!

the wife and i were growing jack-o-lanterns a couple of years ago, and purposefully "scratched" things into the pumpkins when they were young, and the pumpkin just keeps growing and making the marks bigger as it grows, there are a few growers I have seen in this years diaries that had hail damage, and the pumpkin just grows around the damage. all will be fine
