How do you take a circumference measurement if you can't pick the pumpkin up?
Is side to side from the ground on one side to the ground on the other side?
End to end I am assuming is stem to blossom?

Circumfrence is around the pumpkin, starting at the stem end around to the blossom end and ending at the stem end...you can also measure from stem end to blossom end, then from one side to the other side. Add all three together and see what it weighs by using the chart in HOw to Grow Giant Pumpkins...when you measure, be sure to keep the tape level around the pumpkin,,hope this helps.

Remember, side to side and end to end are ground to ground.

ground to ground?

but what if you have sand or something piled up around the pumpkin?

the higher the pileup, the smaller your measruemtns would be.

The only people with sand around their pumpkins are the ones that have it in bags to keep the pumpkin from blowing up.

Does it have to be parallel to the ground? I read in the 'How to' section to follow the girth.
