Today as I went out to fuss over my patch, I noticed drooping leaves and then--lo!--discovered one of my little beauties had been severed off. Either boy, dog or gopher could be the offender. Now I only have two pumpkins, on the same vine, one pollinated during the July 1-10 time zone and one only a week or so ago. Should I sever the little gal and go for broke or leave them both in case something happens to one of them? (I am going to erect a fence tomorrow that will at least keep the boy and lab out. =-))
Thanks in advance,
Jen

Jen, I would stick with two, if you are counting on having one at the end, not worth the risk with only one plant.
Good luck

Jen if your goal is to just have a pumpkin go with two, if it isn't really that important if you end up with one and you really want to see how big you can git go with only one. but if you go with 2 set one a different vine you will get two bigger pumpkins than if both where on the same vine ..mark

Thanks, guys. Yes, I believe that I will go with two. For my first year, I would be one heartbroke pumpkin grower to end up with zip.
