What would happen if you terminate the vine an inch or 2 after the pumpkin?

would it stop growing?

Ive terminated some mains past the pumpkins and my pumpkin continued to put on weight.

Jeremy I gotta say Im also a little confused with Stl Kennys post. Last year was my first year at growing Atlantic Giants and I just had generic seeds. I had a pumpkin on the main right by my fence so I had to terminate the main. The pumpkin at that time was roughly 225 pounds well it grew to 450 pounds.

Jeremy, I believe what Kenny meant was "yes, the vine would stop growing cause you've terminated it"

The pumpkin will continue to grow. Check out more diaries from last year, there are many growers who terminate the vine right after the fruit.

Thanks North Shore Boyz helping clear it up. Sometimes terminating the main can actually benefit the pumpkins growth..stress and what not.

Are you asking if the pumpkin will keep growing or the vine....You need to be include more information in your questions to get an accurate answer. Because the Vine will stop growing, but the pumpkin will not.
