I have a nice size pumpkin which I thought was doing good, but went out last night and it is starting to get slightly dull and lumpy looking, is it aborting? It is measuring about 77" circ, so beyond the beach ball size.

Is it still gaining in cir? How much as compared to before you noticed these lumps and the dullness? This may better help someone to answer your question. Hope all is well with it. Aaron

some pumpkins just get lumpy but the dull spots should be a concern. If the fruit keeps increasing in circ. you shouldn't worry. If you get big white blotches that stand out then you're pretty much done.

Thanks all. Well the pumpkin of concern is continuing to grow but only about 2 in per day in circ. But boy, it is getting to be an ugly pumpkin. The white coloring is more like splotches throughout the pumpkin and getting very lumpy and square shaped, nothing like the other pumps I'm growing. I have another pumpkin further down the main, still pretty small, but I think I will keep it on just in case this larger one goes south on me.
