I got 7 females on my plant currently. Most of them are growing about 1-1/2" to 2" per day circumference measurement. The biggest one is about 10" on a secondary vine and 8-3/4" on the main.

some people say dont cull any of them until the biggest ones are basketball size or how soon should i start culling the smaller ones?

Jeremy, You have way too many on that plant. Three is plenty
to have on a main vine. One as a back up and another just recently pollinated is plenty. I always try to have only two on my main vines and none on the sides.

2 of the 7 are on the main vine and 5 on seperate secondary vines.

i will start culling soon, i am thinking of culling 2-3 of them on friday and 2-3 more probably a couple days later.

will leave 2-3 total eventually.

thanks.

since this is my only plant, i want to leave atleast 2, preferably 3.

ok, i removed 2 pumpkins last night. each of them were on secondary vines.

5 remaining....
2 on main (1 growing fast, other not) biggest 11" day 5
and
3 on secondary vines (all growing good) biggest 13" day 5

like i said, this is my only plant....

i dont feel having 2 on the main vine is a good idea.

which ones should i cull and which ones should i keep?

jeremy, i think this is your first year, if you are a gambler and want to go for the gusto, then only grow one, but if you are like me you want to have something to show at halloween, even if it is not 800lbs, if that is the case leave 3 or so to grow, they can easily get to 3-400 lbs

i think i will leave 4 at the most, 1 on each vine.

that way, if 1 dies somehow, i still got 3
