Hi all,
I have a pumpkin with the following measurements(measured per Giant Pumpkins II): end to end=57" over the top side to side=44" over the top end to end=42" total=143"
Are these measurements OK for time of year? I'm starting to think there are some other pumpkins that look as if they've set. Should I cull immediately or something else?

Hound, Is the 57" the circumference? It would also be helpful to know when your fruit was pollinated, to see if it had a nice growth rate, so far. Is it on the mainvine?....this is something else to consider.

Hi Doug,
The 57" is the circumference measured around the stem and flower ends. I've not been very good about documenting pollination. I think It's been obvisously set for around 2-3 weeks. It was certainly pollinated in June. Growth is obvisously noticable every 2 days without measuring. It's on what has become one of 3 primary vines. The other pumpkins I'm wondering about are on the other 2 primary vines.

Yes, circ. is around the stem and blossom end. Knowing the approx. age of your pumpkin, I'd say the circ. number is in a decent range. Good luck!
