Just informational. Not trying to start an argument.

I’ve heard President Biden use the term “equity” quite a few times recently. For example, today I heard that he signed an executive order called, “The Health Equity Task Force”. I always thought equality and equity were nearly one of the same. What are the differences?

Equality and equity have slightly different meanings. Equality refers to scenarios in which all segments of society have the same levels of opportunity and support. Equity extends the concept of equality to include providing varying levels of support based on individual need or ability.

Equality provides the same level of opportunity to all segments of society such as races or genders.
Equity provided varying levels of support and assistance depending on specific needs or abilities.

Equality and equity are often applied to the rights and opportunities of minority groups. Laws such as the Civil Rights Act of 1964 provided equality, while policies such affirmative action provide equity.

I thought equity was a financial term or just a misused hominem for equality. Tip of the iceberg I'm sure... New alternative ways of thinking will require new words and definitions.

"Equality vs. Equity: What is the Difference? | Merriam-Webster

Equity is often related to justice or proportional fairness. Additionally, it is often seen in financial contexts relating to property or one's share of a company. Equality differs from equity in that it relates more to sameness or equal distribution. In society, equal treatment does not always produce an equitable result."

Not at you Rebel, you asked a legitimate question.
So Biden used the proper term for what is being attempted and yet people who did not do their DD or just do not know call him stupid and yet he is much more intelligent than them. So what does that make them?

Just educational. A stark difference between the previous administration and current one. The language is much different and reflects totally different philosophies.

When I hear Biden use the term “equity” he is referring to the redistribution of goods, services, or wealth to others. Different philosophy. One he was elected into office for. I see this as there will be a never ending re-distribution list. Well it ends when the sources are all dried up.

This current government is placing “equity” at the core of policy design. This federal government will decide who is or isn’t “privileged “ This is what Susan Rice is pushing. There is no definition of what is privileged. What formula is there? The government shouldn’t favor one race over another. We are moving towards a police state and If you’re not scared you should be.

College admissions process just to live in society. There was one college admissions question for Oregon State that was like: "How has your disadvantaged position in society been a challenge for you and caused you to understand differences in other people better?" I didnt know how to answer it so I literally didnt finish my application. If you are a young straight white genius, just take your brains elsewhere. Just move to Russia or China or Latin America. Too many chips on shoulders here.
As for me I am too old to move now and not quite smart enough 1390 SAT just one try. I probably could have got in but I am too much of an a-hole to pander to their cultural sensitivity questions. They do successfully screen out old a-holes like myself, even if we have more brains to offer. I will tell my kids that since they are non-minority white they are gonna need to hit 1500+ on the SAT. This is not an empty blustering. I brlieve they could do this easily if I was allowed to be a father to them. My confidence in my kids is complete and unwavering. My confidence in society is just about zero.
