I don’t know the American take but up north we respect individual freedoms. To me, if you stand up to pee you’re a guy and if you sit down you’re a chick. Why the fear? Stay true to who you are and pay less attention to those who aren’t like you.

Why don’t one of you grow a 1200 pound AG, then identify it as a tomato and smash the world record. Then when people question you, say your “tomato” is offended and that your tomato demands all other gardeners become species neutral in the garden. In gardening school, words like Atlantic Giant won’t be permitted so you don’t offend the tomato that was biologically germinated as an Atlantic Giant.

Smallmouth, I don't have kids in school, but many of my friends my age do and don't seem to be bothered by schools being more open minded about family dynamics than they used to be.

The way I see the issue is that there are two camps of vociferous, reactionary individuals who are appalled by the lifestyles of others. I think both camps are wrong and probably the majority of people are caught somewhere in the middle between these extremes.

I don't care if someone identifies as a Buffalo, and I don't care who gets married (one way I lean democrat). I just don't want to have to alter my vocabulary, and not use words referring to men and women because it offends less than 1%. I definitely don't want males identifying as females in women's sports. It happens, and the males dominate. There needs to be boundaries... like men in girls bathrooms.

When in 1920 women were finally allowed to vote, many many people were outraged.

Now its considered normal and any other position would be considered outrageous.

When black men where allowed to vote in 1870 many many people were outraged.

In 2020 black men voting is like breathing air, its normal and not in question.

Asian American immigrants, who were long ineligible for naturalized citizenship on account of race, and only won the vote starting in 1943.

That to is now the norm.

Point its, some believes and positions sometimes held for decades or centuries can become antiquated and even unacceptable. This can be brought about by a single event or long struggle by people devoting their life to a cause. And sometimes by changes in society that accumulate over the years and eventually warrant change.

It can be something as consequential as voting rights, and it can also be something like the Washington Red skins changing their name. Trivial to some, of great importance to others.

Change is never easy, its always hard. But ultimately its inevitable. The people in 1870, 1920 and 1943 all had to get used to a new reality and their were probably many that had reservations or were outright opposed to those changes, nevertheless a century later they are considered the norm.

No point in fighting change.

Agree no point in fighting change, but what do you do when adults are fighting with reality. If my child wants to cross dress it's just natural curiosity. Suppose a child dresses up as a fireman or batman? Are we gonna tell that kid it's their unalienable right to be batman and no one can stand in their way? If adults want to be weird that's fine bit for kids these things should be treated as what they are: childish detachments from reality that are only unhealthy IF THEY ARE ENCPURAGED. There is no special bathroom for batman. And teachers dont change the kids pronouns so "it" can be a bat 24/7. Detachments from reality should occur during playtime but end at the start of math class.

It feels good to encourage our kids... but when playtime (detachment from reality) becomes permanent... this has the same effect as child's brain as any other form of child abuse. Teaching kids that a permanent detachment from reality is possible (they will be taught this for sure) might be the same as teaching the child that a more healthy "reality" doesnt exist and it never will. It's a slippery slope straight downwards, from encouraging kids to enshrining hell upon them.
