I have a pumpkin thats over 200lbs and would like to know if its ok to apply this now and how much, why is potash important at this stage? I have only fertlized two times this year with 20-20-20, once before females was on the plant and the other time i used it was when the pumpkin was size of a bowling ball. I have not did any reasearch at all on the 0-0-60 and dont have a clue what it does. Ill wait for reply before adding this. Can you mix this 0-0-60 with water and make it a foil spray? The fertilizer i have is red in color and grandular.

Brooks, persionally I would stay away from 0-0-60 till at least the end of Aug, If you do apply it i would go foiler it would probably burn the leaves. I would rather put it down in a drench method rather then foiler, If you do apply it.. GO EASY.. If the mixture rate calls for 2 TBS per 4 liters of water, I would persionally go 1 tbs to 4 liters of water to play it safe, Ive done some research and talked to a few people about this and if you go too heavy with this stuff your chances of haveing the fruit split are great.

Sly,,when I used it,,I try using it like a sidedress,I always tossed it under the leaves so not to get on them..I was always told to broadcast it and then water good to wash it off the leaves,,It will burn leaves if you get it on and dont wash/rinse off,but I wouldnt advise using much..It will blow your fruit up if you go to heavy with it..I would be very careful....I didnt touch it this year....I'm sure my patch had enough from prior 2 years...It was high in potassium in my soil test results...Be careful buddy...

IMC Sprayable Muriate of Potash 0-0-62 55 Lb bag. Retail list is $16.25 but don't expect to pay that much.

This is NOT a recommendation to use MOP. I am consistantly on record for recommending better sources of Potash. But nothing you can get will work faster or cost less which might not really be a good thing....but this does speak to the question "where".

Since we don't yet have stores in Canada, I checked the IMC website for Canadian information. I was able to confirm they represent 17% of the worlds total Potash supply including Canada.

A little more digging does confirm their Canadian prescence.

So somewhere, someone in Canada sells an awful lot of this stuff.

Here is the page for contacts in Canada. I would call the proper Province representative & ask them where this material can be purchased in small quantities.

Be sure to preface your query with the fact you're only after a small quantity for personal use. These folks probably think in terms of barges when dealing with customers. Even a 22 ton trailer is small potatoes for them & not worth their while.

What does the soil analysis say?

If your throwing on high potassium fert just as a guess I'd think again.

You could be REALLY sorry in a couple of weeks when she splits out.

If you HAVE TO throw something down consider some greensand.

Yesterday I went to a local co-op and ask if they sold 0-0-60 and the lady said' "yea if you want to buy a tractor trailor load" I told her i only needed like 30 pounds of it and gave her the "BUT I DROVE ALL THIS WAY :-(" she said "well let me call Billy in the back and let me see what he can do",,, he came out with a 30 pound that he put together. She only charged me 5 bucks for it,lol. Its real hard to buy this around here if u dont buy in bulk
