Cape Breton Nova Scotia

I've been thinking about trying some ureamate this year in the patch. It seems that lots of growers are using it and having success with it.
Question to those that are using it. Are you using it as a foilar spray or drench? Are you using it as directed on the label or are you spoon feeding?

Foliar and drench, spoon feeding all the way.

North shore boys thanks. I had a hard time getting it in Nova Scotia but I finally have some ordered. Looking forward to trying it this year.

Never used it as a foliar, only drench. Not sure what the label says... never read it. I start with a low dose, 1 tsp a day, and work up to a couple tablespoons a day, starting when the plant lays down and starts running.

I was advised to keep it below 250ppm or less for both foliar and drench. It’s powerful stuff, so go slow and steady.

1 cup of Ureamate into 250 gallons of water is what I used as a drench and no higher than 250 ppm for foliar.

Thanks North Shore Boyz sounds good. I try to keep all my foilar sprays under 300. I'll go with 250 ppm to be safe

I do not understand how to calculate dosage with 250 ppm. Actually I don’t know what 250 ppm means. Any help appreciated.

250 gallons/1M = .00025 gallon (1 part per million in this equation);
AT 250 ppm (parts per million, CarlaSue) it would be 250 X .00025 gal = .0625 gal to add to the 250 gallons right outta the jug...

AT 1 cup per 250 gallons (each gallon is 16 cups)
you have <<<1 gallon divided by 16 which equals .0625>>> (mind BLOWN!) and then DIVIDED INTO the 250 gallons, OK, which when checked equals the .00025 original ppm (parts per million) at the start;

CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG.

I initially figured there was a mistake but am now set straight.
At least on ppm idealogy, i think...

HOWEVER, does <<<1 POUND per 10 GALLONS of H2O>>> equate to a proper Parts Per Million for foliar applications, according to the label?

10 Gals = 8.33 pounds X 10 = 833 pounds H2O and 1 pound into that will be 1/833 = .00120048 which i don't even KNOW what that is yet, lol - probably the recommended dosage;

I did not see where in the labeling it said ANYthing about ppm,
so, in looking out for you guys I suggest a rethinking of this product's usage and perhaps a better and definitive conclusion be announced here - I don't even use this product, but I may, now that I've seen the label, lol - Hey, check the land/acreage dosages as well---eg

I never read the label because I was told how to use it by a trusted grower. Found out another trusted grower was using twice as much. But now that I've read the label, you use 2.75 oz or 5-1/2 TBSP every 7-14 days, per 1000 sq ft as a drench.

Carla Sue, it’s Parts Per Million (ppm) and you need a measuring device like this. It measures Total Dissolved Solids.

From here on out I do not care what anyone does;
As i said, it doesn't say anything about ppm and i really think it is being used far too sparingly. I used to use i think it was 'GrowMore 5-10-40' and it was used just like Miracle Gro or any other water-soluble fertilizer. Think I'll get some of this and go to town, lol!
Admittedly, one pound per 10 gallons does sound like a lot, but only because of the playing down of the amount to use to begin with.

"FOR FOLIAR APPLICATION: For all foliar applications, apply Harvest More
Urea Mate 5-10-27 in concentration of 1 pound per 10 gallons of spray
solution. Use caution if higher concentrations of Harvest More Urea Mate
5-10-27 are utilized as it can significantly lower pH. Best if applied when avoiding high daytime temperatures."

SO, it might even help me personally because without a soil test in about 15 years, lol, i do recall my pH naturally being about 7.8.
hmmm, i DO have an unusually warm spring happening. Maybe it's warm enough for even ME to call it 'testing time'---eg out.
